THE RESTAURANT NOTEBOOK

A practical guide to direct online ordering

A direct ordering page gives customers a place to browse your own menu and send an order to your restaurant.

Keep the menu useful

Use clear names, current prices and short descriptions. Explain what a meal includes and make required choices obvious. A useful photo shows the actual food you serve.

Be clear about collection

Show the collection address, configured opening hours and available pickup times. Offer delivery only when your restaurant can actually fulfil it.

Explain when customers pay

For pay-in-store orders, say that Cash or Card is paid when collecting. Choosing a method does not mean the order has been paid.

Give customers a reliable next step

Show an order confirmation and its status. Share your ordering link on channels you control, and keep your staff workflow ready to receive incoming orders.
